The business in Cape Town does IRBA audits and normal Accounting.  They have fees in the R9m per annum range.  They are very well established and have a great name in the industry.  They have a mixed client base serviced by about 20 staff members.

They also have a very nice area of specialisation.

They have a few requirements, and they are:

• They would like to merge their accounting firm, someone, either Upstream, Downstream or Sideways to address the IRBA skills shortage, audit rotation requirement and succession planning need.

• They would like to merge Downstream with a smaller firm to enlarge their Accounting side of the business and also have a champion in place for that part of the business.   They do not think their accounting side is very strong, mainly because they have not had the time nor inclination to pursue.  The incumbent must be able to provide these skills, and the company might be able to provide services that you cannot.

• The managing partner also plans to have a succession plan set up and eventually exit in this manner.  Therefore the incoming partner must be a younger aspiring partner while the exiting partner is retiring over time.
